You can help the blind to start a small business.
If you were wondering where to donate or to channelize your money for a meaningful cause, then this would be a considered alternative.
Help generate employment for the blind by donating for NAB’s employment projects of setting up Vending Stalls, Handicapped Public Call Booths (PCO), STD/ ISD Centers. The present cost of booths depending upon the size sanctioned by the Municipal Corporation is (4x3) sq ft of Rs. 10,000/- and (4x6) sq ft of Rs15,000/-.
Support “The Home Bound Programme Scheme” initiated by NAB and sponsor any of its various schemes that allow the blind to run independent business from their homes. These schemes involve allotment of flour grinding machines (gharghanti), sewing machine, popcorn making machine, leather cutting/ stitching machines, etc. You could sponsor the purchase of these machines either wholly or partly. The cost of these machines varies from Rs. 5,000/- to Rs. 15,000/- depending upon the machine required by the blind person.
Donate rupee contributions to the “Blind Entrepreneurial Development Project”. Under this support is provided to the visually challenged who would like to start a small business on their own. Your funds would be utilized to buy the basic raw materials or machinery that would enable such persons to commence their business. The contributions for these projects would range from Rs. 5000/- to Rs. 10,000/-.
You can help them by placing an order with NAB, Department of Employment for paper bags (image) which are made by blind persons as per the need of the clients.
Benefits for You:
All donations made to National Association for the Blind, India are exempt from Income Tax under Section 80-G (50%) and 35AC(100%). The cheques donated for the projects, should be drawn in favor of the National Association for the Blind, India. Along with the statement of purpose for the amount being utilized.

- Transcription of Books on the computer in MSWord and Indian languages for Braille conversion.
- Assisting in Proof Reading of Braille Text
- Reading academic books or interest articles, leisure books and journals to the blind students and adults
- Assisting blind students to write their exams
- Assisting in scanning and editing the literature for Braille conversion.
- Help in reading and writing drafts, letters, speeches etc for government officers
- Helping in shopping, banking and other out-door activities.
- Helping the NAB volunteers in managing the recreation programs that are conducted for the blind trainees

- Help co-ordinate programs organized for the blind women by CASBW
- Data collection for Project
- Counseling services for blind women
- Aid in securing job orders for UTKARSH Job Development Center from the Corporate Sector for men and women
- Spread awareness through word of mouth and other methods among the young and elderly public, about the activities of UTKARSH & CASBW
- Intimate NAB by identifying beneficiaries to broaden the reach of the existing services rendered by CASBW
- Offer expertise in the training areas of catering and handicraft and other related fields
