Scholarship Programme

 Financial assistance is also provided to blind students of Standard XI and XII in the City of Mumbai and its outskirts.  This assistance enables parents of V.I. children to meet a variety of expenses related to education, viz. tape-recorder, cassettes, transportation, stationery, etc.  The cost of Annual Scholarship to one blind child is Rs.500/- and the same for financial assistance to a junior college student is Rs.1000/-.  Every year there are about 1000 children who need scholarship and financial assistance.

Sponsorship Programme

The Department offers sponsorship assistance to V.I. Children belonging to very poor families and studying in I.E. programmes in different parts of the country.  The assistance is given in kind as per every child’s requirements and covers items like, uniform, footwear, monsoon wear, school picnic, hobby classes, private tuitions, stationery, medicines, etc.  The cost of annual sponsorship to one blind child is Rs.1200/- and the same for perpetual sponsorship is Rs.18,000/-.  Every year, there are about 500 children who need sponsorship assistance.
